CHRISTMAS BAZAAR

Warm atmosphere, smiling people

A job well done! What else could we say after the success of this year's Christmas Bazaar, the 16th  that was organized by IWC Zagreb and was held at the Open University, December 6.

A job well done! What else could we say after the success of this year's Christmas Bazaar, the 16th  that was organized by IWC Zagreb and was held at the Open University, December 6. The warm atmosphere of the St. Nicholas Day, many smiling people, different languages of communication, stands that represented 20 countries, the scent of culinary specialties from all over the world - as if the International community of Zagreb merged with the domestic.

For the seventh and last time the fair was opened by the First Lady, Ms. Milka Mesić, who was welcomed by the cheerful children in the International Children's Parade. Ms. Mesić then visited each stand, accompanied by Ms. Maja Razović Kocijan, Culture and Sports Advisor to the President, Ms. Daiva Kirkilaite-Chetcuti, the President of IWCZ and Ante Županović, Mayor of Šibenik, the city whose General Hospital will be the beneficiary of this humanitarian event.

First lady in christmas shopping

The First lady spoke kindly with the ladies of IWCZ and employees of Embassies who sold the sponsorship products from their countries for this charity, and she was especially glad that she bought vegetarian delicacies which, as she said, she took home for a family dinner which the President Stjepan Mesić will also enjoy.

The Christmas Bazaar was held from 10 am to 4 pm and in this time HRK 180,000 was collected, slightly less than in previous years, and as the ladies expected due to the recession. Their goal is to collect HRK 250,000 and they call for further donation through campaign that will last until mid January, in order to buy the prenatal baby heart monitor. You can donate on account number: 2503007-1100007174, Međunarodni klub žena Zagreb MB1471040.

Collected funds

- With the funds collected so far we can buy one monitor for Šibenik maternity ward, but they need two monitors - Ms. Daiva Kirkilaite-Chetcuti said, happy because Christmas Bazaar achieved such a great success and over the years has become a favorite gathering place for citizens of Zagreb in early December.

- It was very nice, many people responded to our invitation and we thank them all for their contribution to the humanitarian action for the Šibenik General Hospital. The atmosphere was wonderful, in one hour one could have made a world tour through the kitchen. I whish to congratulate all members of IWCZ that participated in the action, and also I express my thanks to the Embassies and the sponsors - said Ms. Kirkilaite-Chetcuti.
