The 251st birthday of the Scottish national poet Robert Burns has been celebrated in Zagreb, on February 6, with various events that lasted the whole day, a Scottish tram was driving around the town, the bagpipers played dressed in traditional Scottish tartan skirts, and even curling, the national sport on ice, was organized on the central square.
The dinner reception and ball, which was organized by the British Embassy and the Caledonia Club of Croatia at the Hotel Regent Esplanade, was attended by the Croatian elected President Ivo Josipović with his wife Tatjana Josipović, and numerous members of the diplomatic and business community in Croatia.
Purchasing the tickets at a price of HRK 400 the guest supported a humanitarian mission of the gala dinner - a donation to children's home "Mistral" in Split and Kaštel.
