Presenting Indian economy to Istrian businessmen
About 30 representatives from the business community of the Istria region attended the event where H.E. Mr. Pradeep Singh, Ambassador of India gave a presentation on the Indian economy, bilateral commercial relations and business potential for the Croatian and Indian commerce, March 11.
The Mayor of Umag, Mr. Vili Bassanese and the President of the Regional Chamber of Commerce of Pula, Ms. Jasna Jaklin Majetic also made presentations. Director of the Indian Trade Promotion Organisation from Frankfurt, Ms. Vemulakonda Meera spoke about the relevance of Indian products in Croatia and details of the major trade fairs and exhibitions. Being a major centre for tourism in Croatia, the potential of developing tourism between Indian and Croatia was also discussed.
As part of the programme, Indian classical dance was performed by Ines Smiljanic and the famous Croatian duet Rosy and Willy also entertained the gathering. Adding colour and excitement to the event were business stalls exhibiting Indian textiles, ornaments and souvenirs besides Istrian wines and olive oil. The event culminated in a grand banquet hosted by Mr. Vili Bassanese, Mayor of the city of Umag which featured the famous Istrian cuisine.
