
Presentation on electric energy from renewable sources - the experiences of the UK and Croatia.
H.E. David Graeme Blunt, UK ambassador to Croatia, took part in a set of events on 14 October, in Croatian Chamber of Economy, aimed at promoting the 'low carbon high growth' objective. H.E. David Graeme Blunt was amongst the panelists and introduced a presentation given by Dr. Malcom Kennedy, a member of the management board of Narec (New and Renewable Energy Centre; www.narec.co.uk) who spoke of the systematic approach to the application of renewable energy sources into the UK's electric system.
Dr. Kennedy's presentation in Croatia was organized by the UKTI and the Croatian Chamber of Commerce and the aim of this event was to exchange the experiences of UK and Croatia concerning solar energy. Other speakers included Ruđer Friganović, Managing Director of Industry and Technology Department at The Croatian Chamber of Economy, Igor Ragužin, chief of the Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Unit within the Croatian Ministry of Economy, Labour and Entrepreneurship and Jasenka Nećak, director of the Administration for the Atmosphere and Waste Management within the Croatian Environmental Protection, Spatial Planning and Construction Ministry.
Dr. Kannedy presented the current framework for renewable energy and referred to two documents of the British Government: UK Renewable Energy Strategy and the UK Low Carbon Transition Plan, which discuss the biomass and solar energy that is inexhaustible and economical, and do not cause pollution.
