Children awarded for visual identity of Zagreb

 

The Mayor of Zagreb Milan Bandić awarded three eight grade pupils from Primary School Ivan Gundulić at the ceremony held in Dverce Palace, May 13, attended also by numerous members of Diplomatic Corps. Group drawing that made Filip Škrget Rakić, Magdalena Zoričić and Matej Razbornik was chosen to be on the bilboards for celebration of the Europe Day 2010 all over Zagreb.

 

They won in competition of 12 student drawings from eight schools, and the winning prizes were easel and artistic set and also cutting the cake, especially made in colour and with stars of EU, with the Mayor Bandić.



- From all of my heart I congratulate you the Europe Day and I want us all to try to make better, more just and progressive world. We can promise that we will never get tired of building happier European family - said the Mayor of Zagreb.
At the beginning of the ceremony Primary School Josip Juraj Strossmayer's Children Choir performed the Anthem of the Republic of Croatia and the EU anthem „Ode to Joy" in English, French and German.


The Mayor and present ambassadors led by Apostolic Nuncio Msgr. Mario Cassari were deeply touched.


- This children are new generation. Beeing part of Europe for them is totaly natural and logic affair - concluded the Mayor ceremony of award that was beeing held for the fifth time in the City of Zagreb.

UK Ambassador David Blunt enjoyed talking to pupils from choire, since he himself also sings in choire. In Zagreb he even had one public performance with Zagreb Choir Ivan Goran Kovačić.
